valentines day
"We cannot always do great things. But we can do small things with great love,”
- Mother Theresa
Holidays can be consumerist, forced times to do something, say something, spend money. Or they can be a chance to teach a value, celebrate what really matters and help our kids to become the people we want them to be. I choose the latter.
In our house, Valentines Day isn’t about chocolate, overpriced roses or expensive date nights.
Our Valentines Day tradition is to make homemade love notes about what we love most about each other and then get messy and make our own pizza. This poster we painted, is now collaged with love notes we add each year.
“I love that you go with me to the basement when I’m scared.”
“I love that you help me do puzzles.”
“I love that you were born in January” (haha)
“I love when you snuggle me.”
And so, I do these small things with great love and focus on raising four boys who will hopefully do the same.
